columbia-thumbnailWhat do all those entities have in common? They are Shorty Award winners. And today, Thursday, September 26th, I am going to meet many of them as the Shorty Awards kick off their 2014 competition with a launch party at Vayner Media in New York City. Up until now, I have been on the consumer end of the Shorty Award winners. Tonight, I am going to meet the industry side, which honors the best agencies in social media.

To say I am excited is an understatement. Last year, when the Metro Moms Network team flagged the Shorty Awards competition as something it would be great for me to enter, I never in my wildest dreams thought my picture would end up at the top of their winners list. As the winner of the first-ever #KeepGoodGoing Shorty Award, the Shorty team has been introducing me to everyone as “the best mom in social media.” And what has been the result? A photo shoot with Cosmopolitan Magazine, interview with Scholastic, and a speaking engagement at Columbia Journalism School.

But more important to me than accolades? The opportunity to meet people who love social media as much as I do. Thanks to the Shorty Award introductions, my world is full of possibilities that I could only dream of a year ago.

Tonight, after the Shorty Awards launch party, I will be special guesting at a Twitter Party with Fortune Magazine writer Katherine Lewis and Working Mother, an advocacy group for more than 17 million moms who are devoted to their families and committed to their careers.

I will be making a HUGE announcement during tonight’s twitter party, so tune in to find out!
