Give and Receive This Thanksgiving – Disney on Ice GIVEAWAY – ENDED

The Metro Moms have many reasons to be thankful. All five of our editors are back in Hoboken, our families came through the hurricane safely and we got to spend a lot of quality time with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents while Superstorm Sandy snarled life in northern New Jersey. As we rebuild our homes and communities, we wanted to express our thanks by giving to others.

The Metro Moms have adopted a family who lost everything when their house in the Rockaways was destroyed by Sandy. If you have clean, gently used clothes, gear and toys suitable for a four year old girl, six year old boy or one and a half year old boy, please bring them to the December 14th Consulting Network luncheon from 11am-1pm in Hoboken at the Windmill at 97 Hudson Street. Details are here, child care is available and Fun On the Run Bags will be demoing new travel toys. We will be giving away a Kindle Paperwhite ereader and a Baby Cargo 200 Series Stroller.

We are giving away four free tickets to Disney on Ice courtesy of the New Jersey Devils. Tickets are redeemable at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Prudential Center, IZOD Center and Barclays Center. To enter the contest, leave a comment with your top reason you are thankful on this article by 11:55 pm on Friday, 11/23. The winner will be notified via email.

  1. I’m thankful that we’ve been able to see so much of our families this year (we all live in opposite corners of the US) and that we will be expanding our family in April.

  2. Thankful for my family and everyone being healthy!

  3. So grateful to have so much to be thankful for- my family, health and incredible friends. To live in an amazing community that is supportive and loving. Thankful for all this and so much more!

  4. I’m grateful for simplicity, warmth, compassion, humility and service. These are the qualities I learned from working with the JC community in the aftermath of Sandy. Small or big, every effort counted in creating community. I am blessed to be in such a dynamic community.

  5. I am thankful to have a roof over my head and for the simple things like lights and hot water which were lost during Hurricane Sandy. While the hurricane was harsh it made me stop and appreciate the everyday things that many in other countries do not have and the devestation that they experience everyday. However, I am most THANKFUL to have my mother still alive and well. She underwent not 1 but 2 brain surgeries, that last being around Thanksgiving time last year. So despite Hurricane Sandy and her aftermath. I am truly blessed and thankful to have my mom.

  6. I am thankful to be back home and have my family with me. I am thankful for being able to come to America, and for all opportunities this country is giving us.

  7. I am very thankful that life is finding a new normal with my loved ones in good health. Time is such a valuable commodity. I am thankful that my daughter is getting to know her grandparents so well.

  8. I am thankful for feet… my own which have brought me around the world, allow me to run, and dance, and climb… my husband’s on which he stands to work all day and provide for his family… my daughters, so small yet ever growing, the beautiful symbol that still reminds me of the first time I saw them on an ultrasound. Feet have carried people into my life and carry me into the lives of others. Feet are my roots, my wings, and the only transportation I’ll ever really need.

  9. Congratulations to Lana Rose Diaz, winner of the 4 tickets to Disney on Ice!
