GET YOUR KIDS OFF TO A READING QUICK START – START TRACKING NOW

Don’t have access to a Summer Reading Program? Here are some tips to help your kids work on their summer reading habits.

HERE’S HOW:

1. Make a simple tracking chart for your child(ren). On a sheet of paper, draw (or create a form on a computer) 10 boxes (5 rows, 2 columns).

2. In each box, insert 4 unique pictures or shapes that can be colored by your child. For example, a simple chart could have 4 circles in the first box, 4 triangles in the second box, etc.

3. Each box represents 1 hour of reading time. Each picture represents 15 minutes. Your child gets to color in one shape for every 15 minutes of reading time.

The Metro Moms are planning to keep this reading momentum going all summer long even for our little readers’ younger siblings by keeping track of “mommy and me” reading time too.

Let’s make this a Metro Moms family event for all of us. Start reading now!
